Ring around the Horsie

Just found out tonite some amazingly great ! possibly life changing news for Glory!  I took her to a farm in Galloway this past weekend.  I have been trying to find an outlet for her love of horses.  It started when she was only 10 months old and has been increasing ever since.  She is completely obsessed.  Well this farm i took her to, they had pony rides.  I started asking questions (although i didn't have my hopes up cause every place i've looked into has a 5 years old and up policy).  I have been emailing the owner since saturday, and well i found out tonite not only do they allow classes starting at age 3 ... they are taking Glory early because she is 'such a natural' ! she starts in NOVEMBER! next month !!!! .... AND ... they have a work for training program where as she gets older she can work off her lessons doing work on the farm!!  Our lack of being rich monetarily will not get in her way !!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!  oh i'm SOOOOOO excited for Glory!!!!!  I can't wait to watch her in her journey and help cultivate her deep love for horses.

I also found this link tonite ... posting it to keep track of it so i don't lose it.

The ants go marching

This has been such a great week.  Glory is now counting up to 10 on her own with no prompting!  She has been counting everything!  Crayons, toys, gold fish crackers ... she asked to go for a bike ride and stopped to get off and collect and count pine cones <3 and also rocks when we got to the play ground.  Then we sat to relax and were having fun with her new favorite games 'Cars' and 'Eye Spy'. (Cars is when we sit on the bench in the park and watch the cars go by yelling out the colors as they pass - i remember playing that game with my mother when i was very little - i wish i could share that memory with her)  We also had fun hunting for ants and spelling the word Ant and singing the 'short A song'  She has really started to link music to most everything she does these days.  If she sees a color she starts singing the color songs to match them from starfall.  Her current favorite is 'Orange orange orange, carrots are orange, pumpkins are big and orange! Orange orange orange, oranges are orange, I love the color orange I do!'  :)  We have been having a hard time with the library's scheduled hours and the timing for her books arrival so we are going to extend the A's into next week and really kind of change our week around since we have a funny schedule.  Her weekends will be tuesday and wednesday instead of saturday and sunday since john is off tuesday and wednesday and we rarely get to school work on his days off but have ample time on the weekend when he works.  :)  so the new week will start on thursday  :)  on thursday we start the letter B!

Tomorrow's Plan

Tuesday
Language Arts & Music (30 minutes)
  • Review the theme word flash cards.
  • Read (or memorize) the poem or rhyme chosen.
  • Read one of the stories(the same or different).
  • Sing the song you chose.
  • Listen to music of the composer of the week and show the flash card, if you made one.
Math (15 minutes)
  • Teach the math idea or activity listed this day.
Optional - Colors!
  • Teach the color listed.  You should be able to find the color in a 64 or 96 pack of crayons.
  • Take an index card and color it the color listed.
  • Write the color word on the other side.
  • Show the flash card a few times each day for the rest of the week.
(When my second son was 3 he loved colors and learned to recognize  the color and read the color word for almost 64 different colors.  If your child loves color you can continue to review the colors all year.)
